Fort McHenry has that affect on many a soul.
Nice to see such happy children. Good work, teach.

These kids must have seen the Fort McHenry historical filmstrip and climactic flag display.

This photo was taken before the bus had even pulled away from school. They were thrilled just to be out of class.
And--despite what it looks like, the bus was perfectly silent during this little celebration.

Unfortunately, we did not watch the film. I can imagine that, had we, some of them would have reacted to the curtain opening in much the same way that Craig did when he was here a while back.

A bus full of hope . . .

I know that this photo captures just a brief moment, but it reminds me of when I watch Molly smile or laugh out loud in her rapturous almost-2-years-old way. Sometimes I wonder if she will always be this happy or if I were ever that happy as child. But it's enough for me to relish the moment and let it soak in.

Isn't teaching kids excellent? This is just the kind of moment when I feel it.
